Webinar – Growing in a Post-Pandemic World: How Can Indonesia Thrive in the Upcoming post-Covid-19 World?

Covid-19 has created unprecedented challenges for Indonesia’s economy and the functioning of day-to-day activities as we knew it. The rolling out of vaccination program has brought cautious optimism that in 2021 we will be able to rebound and recover towards a new normal, a post pandemic period that nonetheless will need revised public policies.

Two cornerstones of the nation’s recovery will be saving lives and creating & protecting jobs, ensuring the ability not only for a quick rebound but also to sustain the improvement trajectory over the period of transition until the virus is well contained.

However, beyond the immediate recovery, the economic order of the “post-covid 19” world will be different from the one we had before. Changes to globalization – of business and personal lives – had started before the pandemic, but have been accelerated. Issues of sustainability, social justice have come to the forefront. Customers have changed their behaviors in a radical way, and most of it appears resilient post-pandemic. Businesses have been able to – and sometime forced to - decide in a matter of hours things that would have taken months before.

HCI would like to have an open discussion on the topic. What does it mean for Indonesia, both for its private sector and for its public sector? While economist forecasts are generally optimistic for Indonesia, how can we thrive in this new economic order, and what are the specific opportunities we should focus on?
